2011 Santo Domingo Music Festival

Since 1997, every two years in the month of March, Santo Domingo turns into the Mecca of classical music lovers in the Caribbean, with the celebration of the Santo Domingo Music Festival.

Renowned French orchestra conductor and pianist, Philippe Entremont, will again by the Festival’s Artistic Director, together with maestros José Antonio Molina, Dominican and Ramón Tebar, Spanish.

For this eighth edition we will have participation of breathtaking Russian pianist Arcadi Volodos, captivating violinist Sarah Chang and young Japanese pianist Gen Tomuro. The festival will also have a night with groundbreaking contemporary American dance company, Trey McIntyre Project, another night dedicated to opera with soloists from opera houses in Washington and Los Angeles and another dedicated to music from our continent.

As usual, the extraordinary Festival Orchestra, of more than 105 musicians, will be formed by the principal musicians from orchestras in Europe, the United States and the National Symphony Orchestra of the Dominican Republic.
