Orquesta Nacional de España

In September 2002 we presented the Orquesta Nacional de España for the first time in Santo Domingo.  This presentation was a true musical event, not only because the orchestra is one of the most outstanding in the world,  but because it was conducted by a legend, Maestro Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos.

The orchestra included Santo Domingo as part of their American tour thanks to the generous collaboration of the Spanish Ministry of Culture, of the National Institute of Scenic Arts and Music, of the Spanish Embassy in Santo Domingo and of our Ministry of Culture.

Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra

In May 2006, we presented this dynamic orchestra, conducted by its Principal Conductor, Alejandro Posada Gomez in our National Theater Eduardo Brito.  Santo Domingo was the closing of their American tour in commemoration of the fifth centennial of the death in Valladolid of Admiral Christopher Columbus. Together with a Spanish repertoire, the orchestra played Antonin Dvorak’s New World Symphony in homage to this tour.  The tour was sponsored by the Junta de Castilla y León, the Spanish Embassy and Spanish Cultural Center in Dominican Republic,  our Ministry of Culture, Teatro Nacional Eduardo Brito and Dominican enterprises of Spanish origin.

West-Eastern Divan Orchestra

As part of their summer tour that took them to various Latin-American countries, in August 2010 we had the privilege of presenting, together with the Ministry of Culture and Teatro Nacional Eduardo Brito, two historic concerts with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra.

During two memorable nights our audience enjoyed five of the most emblematic symphonies of composer Ludwig van Beethoven, played by this exceptional orchestra, conducted by its mythical and legendary director, Daniel Barenboim.
